Fresh and juicy Carrots for all | Vokkaleri
Clicked in June 2004 / Vokkaleri, near Markandeshwara (*album)
While returning from the Markandeshwara Temple in Vokkaleri we came upon these guys who were busy at work in their fields. We stopped and chatted with them for a while, asked for a few samples. I tried to pay them and learnt something new. I discovered that they have a policy of not selling at the field where they grow, as it is considered to be bad luck and that we were free to take how much ever we desired. All this made me wonder at the goodness and warmth of people, despite the hardships in their lives. They had to be coaxed a little to pose for a snap. After answering their queries as to why I wanted to take photos they eagerly posed. We drove on munching on some tasty carrots into our own routines & lives, made richer by this experience.
